Boerne, TX - On Friday, February 19, 2016, the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce presented Hill Country Family Services with the 2015 Nonprofit Organization of the Year Award at the Chamber's annual awards gala.

In presenting the award to HCFS, Patrick Cohoon, Chairman of the Chamber read, "In 2015, [HCFS] distributed 156,000 pounds of food; disbursed $52,650 to clients for emergency medical costs, utilities, rent and other essentials, and they provided clothing, school supplies, meals, blankets, heaters, coats and Christmas gifts to client's children. In 2015, the number of families receiving their assistance increased by 197% and the number of individuals served through their food pantry increased 153%." Prior to announcing the award winner's name, Cohoon summed, "They are truly setting the standard for fighting hunger and poverty by addressing the physical, mental, and financial wellness of each client through empowerment, responsibility, material support and counseling, and by collaborating with its Kendall County partners."

Pete Cowger, President of the Board of Directors for Hill Country Family Services, stated, "Hill Country Family Services is honored to be the recipient of this tremendous award. We are proud to represent and be part of Boerne's vibrant, nonprofit community."

Jamie Cox, Chief Executive Officer of HCFS, added, "We are truly humbled by the kindness and generosity of all the members of the Chamber for their support of our mission. It is only through the community that we are able to provide meaningful assistance to all our residents who need a helping hand."


Hill Country Family Services’ (HCFS) mission is to provide programs and services to improve the holistic wellness of the individuals and families in Kendall County, Texas through counseling, food, clothing and emergency financial assistance. HCFS empowers our clients by assisting them in making healthy lifestyle choices and provides a connection to other community services and resources.
